“An unforgettable viewing experience.” –Maariv
On October 7, 2023, as Hamas launched its attack on Israel, 15 terrorists entered the town of Ofakim, killing 27 civilians and five police officers. Zohar Wagner’s hybrid documentary recounts the extraordinary story of Rachel Edri and her husband, who were held hostage in their home for20 hours. Through quick thinking, humour, and an instinctive act of hospitality—including baking cookies for her captors—Rachel managed to buy precious time until rescue. In the days that followed, Edri became a symbol of bravery in the country (and her simple cookie recipe was shared online). Filmmaker Wagner effectively blends documentary and dramatic reenactments with the real Rachel acting as “director” of the scenes portraying her own ordeal. Exclusive private footage and police archival materials complete this gripping story of survival, ingenuity and resilience.
Screening followed by a live Zoom Q&A with filmmaker Zohar Wagner.
