The Last Horrah: Closing of the Ashkenaz Festival

The Last Horrah is here again, in partnership with the Ashkenaz Festival. Join us for a day of incredible live music and community as we celebrate the end to this year's festival and JCC Summer Event Series.

As the summer comes to an end, we're turning the Honey& Barry Community Park, at the Prosserman JCC, into a cultural playground featuring live music, vendors, crafts, family friendly activities, and the famous Ashkenaz Parade. This year, we have more bands and MORE SEATING for the outdoor portion in the park (though we also encourage you to bring your own chairs or blankets if you wish). The outdoor daytime portion of the event in the park will conclude at 6:30pm before we transition to the Leah Posluns Theatre for the two final concert performances of the festival.

PLEASE NOTE: that Regular and Family Passes include access to ALL programming, however evening events in the Leah Posluns Theatre will be subject to capacity and will be first come first served, UNLESS you purchase an add-on seat reservation for either or both of the shows. ‍Rubin Brothers

Real-life brothers AJ & Colescott Rubin are time-traveling musical entertainers with a whimsical flair for vaudeville & circus. The Rubin Brothers are third-generation Boston artists known for combining snappy originals with unicycling, juggling, acrobatics, and more.

Ethel Raim and the Socalled Band

Ethel Raim is the legendary founder of both ThePennywhistlers, an American singing group popular during the 1960s folk music revival, as well as NYC’s esteemed Center for Traditional Music and Dance. Her new project with Montreal’s renowned Josh “Socalled” Dolgin features fresh and funky takes on Yiddish song.

Ashkenaz Parade

One of the signature events of the Festival since its inception in 1995, the Ashkenaz Parade is a joyous procession of music and giant puppets. This year’s edition will be led by the group Dobranotch and feature our entire community of musicians and Festival attendees.

Hadar Maoz

Hadar Maoz is an Israeli singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and electrifying stage performer whose music bridges 2,500-year-old Persian, Bukharian, and Jewish Central Asian traditions with modern groove, blues, and world music.

Susana Behar (Inside Leah Posluns Theatre)

Award-winning vocalist Susana Behar moves between Sephardic song, Cuban rhythms and melodies, and Latin American folklore, shaping them into a distinctly contemporary voice that is entirely her own.

Michael Winograd and the Honorable Mentshn (Inside Leah Posluns Theatre)

You might say the Honorable Mentshn are today’s premiere high-energy aesthetically mid-century tinged, clarinet fronted, nostalgically-leaning, foundationally neo-traditional contemporary repertoire Klezmer ensemble based in the Southern half of Brooklyn with members scattered throughout the US.
